This Weekend: Galilee Tourney & Festival, Twisted Puzzle Run and More

Here are just a handful of ideas to kickstart your weekend planning.

First Friday Coffee: Join members of the South County Chamber of Commerce on Friday, Sept. 6 at 8 a.m. for First Friday Coffee hosted by The Fayerweather Craft Guild (1859 Mooresfield Rd., Kingston). The Guild is dedicated to preserving old crafts and promoting new ones. They are open for their 46th season of craft demonstration and hands-on workshops. Be sure to bring plenty of business cards for networking!

Get star struck at the 
Frosty Drew Observatory's Public Stargazing Night (61 Park Ln., Charlestown), this and every Friday night at 6 p.m. Be sure to subscribe to the Frost Drew Observatory mailing list or follow them on Twitter (@FrostyDrewOBSY) to receive status updates about our public stargazing program. This is a free event, however donations are greatly appreciated.


Micetro Improv! Head to The Contemporary Theater (327 Main St., Wakefield) Friday at 9:30 p.m. for the season's final Micetro Improv! A troupe of improvisation masters will compete head-to-head in making up scenes and songs to win your vote as Micetro champion. Click here for more information.

Comedy at the Contemporary: At 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, The Contemporary Theater (327 Main St., Wakefield) will host a performance of "Bob" by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, which tells the story of Bob, the quintessential American man who was born in a White Castle and destined for great things. "This heart-warming play is both hilarious and deeply moving as Bob's life unfolds onstage." Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased by clicking here to visit the Theater's website.

Twisted Puzzle Run: Beginning at 9 a.m. this Saturday, Sept. 7, cruise the Ocean State on a motorcycle or in a classic car to find pieces of the puzzle! Participants will have at least a dozen puzzle piece stops along the route, including two in Wakefield, one in Kingston and one in Narragansett. The event ends with a barbecue at Twisted Throttle, 570 Nooseneck Hill Road, Exeter. $15 per driver; $10 per passenger; $10 per person (barbecue only). Click here for complete Puzzle Run rules. Free Electronics Drop-Off: Dispose of your broken, unused or unwanted electronics on Saturday (Sept. 8) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Port of Galilee during this weekend's fishing tournament and seafood festival. Eligible electronics include TVs, monitors, computers, printers, microwaves, CD players, stereo equipment and basically anything else with a wire! Air conditioners and other items containing Freon will be accepted for a $10 disposal fee. Visit www.indiecycle.com for more information.

Galilee Fishing Tourney and Seafood Festival: This Saturday and Sunday, the Port of Galilee will host the Galilee Fishing Tournament and Seafood Festival! The free and family-friendly festival will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Guests will enjoy live entertainment, a variety of great eats, arts & crafts vendors, educational exhibits, face painting and more!

The Fishing For Hope Tournament will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and conclude at 2 p.m. on Sunday, rain or shine. Click here for everything you need to know about both events.

RugBurn at O-Mist: Stop by the Ocean Mist (895 Matunuck Beach Rd.) between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday for some live music from RugBurn. The female fronted 7-piece band brings with them a diverse song selection, covering Top 40 tunes and many of your old favorites!
