URI Student to Serve Probation for Kiddie Porn Possession

Alexander Su, 22, is ordered to serve three years probation after pleading no contest to a charge of possession of child pornography.

Alexander Su, 22, now of Glendale, and formerly of 10 Tom Walsh Lane, Narragansett, was ordered to serve three years probation after pleading no contest to a Rhode Island State Police charge of possession of child pornography.

Superior Court Associate Justice Melanie Thunberg imposed the sentence on Su on Oct. 4. Su was also ordered to enter a sex offender program and to pay $270 in assessments. In return for his plea, an additional charge of possession of child pornography was dismissed.

According to police reports included in court files and the University of Rhode Island’s online directory, Su is a student at the university.

Su was arrested in March 2011, after authorities conducted trace of an IP address that was distributing sexualized images of an 8-year-old. Police said a forensic search of Su’s hard drive revealed 300 images and 11 videos of child pornography.
