Wakefield Woman Killed in Richmond Crash

The 24-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene early Friday morning.

An early morning crash in Richmond took the life of a Wakefield woman on Friday.

Police say Sierra Stanton, 24, was traveling on Route 138 at approximately 1:30 a.m. Friday when she lost control of her car while going around a sharp curve. The vehicle went off the road and struck both a utility pole and a tree.

Stanton was pronounced dead at the scene. According to investigators, she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and the car's air bags had deployed.

The crash cut power along Route 138 into Wyoming and also forced Richmond Elementary School to close Friday. Police detoured traffic at several points near the scene of the accident while National Grid crews worked to restore power.
