
Be sure to bring your fishing poles and appetites with you this weekend when heading to the 2nd Annual Galilee Seafood Festival, held in conjunction with the Galilee Fishing Tournament at the Port of Galilee in Narragansett.
The Seafood Festival will run Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests will enjoy live entertainment, a variety of great eats (and not just seafood) from local restaurants and food trucks, arts & crafts vendors, fishing boat tours, educational exhibits, face painting, RIDEM's Sea Creatures Touch Tank, free rock wall climbing on Sunday and more!Â
The Fishing For Hope Tournament will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and conclude at 2 p.m. on Sunday, rain or shine. Fish weigh-in stations will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Both events have been organized jointly by the Narragansett Parks & Recreation Department, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and the Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association, and are sponsored by Flood Auto Group.
The events have been designed "to celebrate and promote the recreational and commercial fishing industries, local seafood and the Port of Galilee as an important aspect of Rhode Island's economy, as well as a great source of recreation for both residents and visitors."All proceeds from the Tournament and Seafood Festival will be donated to:
- Narragansett Parks & Recreation Financial Aid Program
- Point Judith Fishermen's Memorial Scholarship FundÂ
- Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Foundation
