Artists and Art Buyers Converge at Wickford Art Festival this Weekend

One of the largest and finest art festivals in the east begins Saturday in historic Wickford Village.

WICKFORD, RI—More than 200 fine artists will be displaying and selling their works at the Wickford Art Festival this Saturday and Sunday.

The festival is one of the most anticipated and well-attended events of its kind in New England every summer and brings thousands to quaint and historic Wickford Village in North Kingstown to shop for art, if not to admire the color and splendor.

The juried, fine art festival has been a staple of the Rhode Island summer tourism season since 1962.

Admission is free for visitors. The artists, however, must apply to be considered for an exclusive spot along the street and shore.

From oil and acrylic paintings, to mix media, etchings and sculptures, the festival offers a remarkable opportunity to see art, meet artists and explore the village's food and shopping offerings.

The festival runs Saturday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
