Bats, Ghosts & Meditation

Your guide for life in North Kingstown today, Oct. 29.

Bats, Bats, bats! Halloween Eve – a night when vampires, goblins, and zombies begin to stir – what better time to learn the facts about bats! Do they nest in your hair? Do they feed on blood? Are they really mouse angels? Dr. Peter August, URI natural resources science professor, will talk about the wide variety of bats around the world with special emphasis on Rhode Island bats.  Our most common bat, the little brown bat, has a surprisingly complex annual cycle. Dr. August will also give an update on White Nose Syndrome, the mysterious disease that is decimating bat populations in the northeastern United States. Please register. 6:30 p.m. at NK Free Library.
