Health Inspections: Pelly's 19th Hole, CVS Cited

The following health inspection reports were submitted by the Rhode Island Department of Health for June, 2013.

Pelly's 19th Hole, 615 Callahan Road — Inspectors noted six violations on June 24:
  • Deli slicer and dough mixer not clean to sight and touch. Regulation: These items must be properly washed, rinsed and sanitized before next use and during times of non-use.
  • One cold hold unit not maintaining foods at 41*F or below. Foods temped by inspector were 50*F, disposal done and PIC turned thermostat down and owner called for service. Fax service invoice to RI DOH. Regulation: Unit must not be used until 41*F or below is maintained.
  • Cloth in contact with food (lettuce). Regulation: Cloths must not be in contact with foods unless as a liner in the service of foods such as breads.
  • Lids of cold hold unit in poor repair - does stay properly shut (tight fitting). Regulation: This must be properly repaired to help ensure foods maintain a 41*F or below temperature.
  • Floors under racks in walk-in cooler have an accumulation of food debris and must be properly clean as often as necessary to prevent such build-up of debris.
  • Some areas of the floor of the kitchen is not smooth or easily cleanable and must be properly repaired or replaced.
CVS Pharmacy, 6495 Post Road — Inspectors recorded three violations on June 24:
  • Facility has open rodent bait in back area of facility. Professional pest control is used. Inspector observed the rodent bait being old (dusty). Person in charge stated it will be thrown away.
  • Bottled waters stored next to photo chemicals in back storage room area. The water must be stored in an alternate area to prevent possible contamination of the bottles.
  • Racks in dairy cold hold unit have a build-up of food debris and/or mold and must be cleaned as often as necessary to prevent such build-up.
