NK: House Fire On Finch Lane Thursday
Crews are responding to a house fire on Finch Lane, according to multiple news sources.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Crews responded to a house fire on Finch Lane on Thursday afternoon. The first alarm was struck around 3:30 p.m., fire Chief Scott Kettelle said. Heavy smoke was reported from the second floor, witnesses said. The fire was under control in about 30 minutes, the chief said, and completely knocked down in about an hour.
No one was injured, he said. Two dogs in the house escaped and are safe.
The Red Cross is helping the family of two adults and two children and their pets. The house can be repaired but is too badly damaged to be occupied tonight.

Extreme cold complicated the firefighting, he added. The area immediately iced up. But the public works department came in with salt and sand, so the crews could work.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. The North Kingstown fire marshal and the state fire marshal are investigating.
