NK Man Pleads Nolo to EG Hit-and Run

James Deacon, 50, had been arrested on June 25 following an accident in East Greenwich.

A North Kingstown man charged with a hit-and-run accident in East Greenwich pleaded no contest in court on June 28.
James Deacon, 50, entered his plea before Judge Pamela Woodcock-Pfeiffer on a count of leaving the scene of an accident, property damage resulting.
Woodcock-Pfeiffer ordered Deacon to pay $500 toward the state Violent Crimes Indemnity Fund and any out-of-pocket expenses owed by the owner of the other car. She also allowed Deacon to keep his license, and waived court costs.
According to East Greenwich Police, officers tracked Deacon's car to his home after the other driver have them his license plate information.
The woman had told officers that Deacon's car struck hers on Main Street, reversed from the scene, then headed southbound after the collision.
As part of his plea deal, Deacon will have the charge expunged in a year if he meets the terms set by Woodcock-Pfeiffer.
