NK Town Beach Closed Due to High Bacteria Levels
The Rhode Island Department of Health issued an advisory on Wednesday, June 12.

North Kingstown Town Beach is among five beaches that have been deemed unsafe for swimming because of high bacteria counts, the Rhode Island Department of Health announced on Wednesday.
Narragansett Town Beach, City Park Beach and Oakland Beach in Warwick, and Barrington Town Beach have also been closed until further notice.
In an alert posted on its website, the Health department also noted that Goddard Memorial State Park Beach and Conimicut Point Beach in Warwick remain closed.

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Department of Health maintans ongoing testing of local swimming areas for Enterococci bacteria, which can show the presence of fecal matter in the water. Any reading above 104 colony forming units, or cfu, per 100 milliliters of salt water triggers an alert.
The department also maintains an interactive water quality webpage, which shows updated information on all beaches in Rhode Island.
