RI State Police Charge 13 with DUI over July 4 Holiday, Including Boater

The state police and local police departments stepped up patrols over the July 4 holiday weekend, netting 13 arrests.

RHODE ISLAND—Twelve people drove a car and one drove a boat while drunk over the Independence Day holiday and are facing charges of driving under the influence, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

The state police, along with local police departments, were out in force over the July 4 holiday weekend. Authorities said that despite the arrests, it was a relatively peaceful and problem-free weekend marked by large crowds, fireworks displays and cooperating weather that jammed beaches and businesses.

Police released the names of the alleged drunk driver. Each was charged with driving under the influence.
