For fun in the sun without the crowds, check out these hidden shorelines across Newport County.
Just like sand and surf, crowds and seagulls have become synonymous with many of Newport County's famous beaches. If you're looking to escape the chaos of area's more popular beaches while you sunbathing this summer, you have to know where to look.
Here 's a peek at five hidden beaches along the Newport County shoreline.

A favorite for locals, Rejects Beach is situated at the end of the Cliff Walk by the intersection of Bellvue and Coggshell avenues in Newport.

The cleverly-named Reject's Beach is a 100-foot strip of shoreline on the edge of the exclusive Bailey's Beach private club. Reject's is free and accessible to the public via a foot path, but no restrooms, parking or lifeguards are provided.
The wide, white sand beach abuts a large cliff face, which hides the shore from nearby roads and makes for breathtaking coastal vistas.

2. Purgatory Chasm, Middletown
If you're looking to take a quick dip and cool off in the clean salty waters beside Middletown's famous Second Beach, this is the perfect spot for you - just be prepared for a little climbing.
The chasm itself is a narrow cleft in the rock ledges on the east side of Easton Point, formed by the eroding action of the sea over many years. Beside this feat of nature, however, swimmers can descend the cliffs to the left side of the footpath beside the cliff face to jump into waist-high waters. Be cautious, however, because this swimming hole abuts surfer's end at Sachuest Beach.
Parking: Yes, but there is a 30-minute limit.
Lifeguard: No, but lifeguards do patrol nearby Sachuest Beach.
This hidden gem tucked along the side of Newport's cliff walk is another little-known local favorite beach. Follow the footpath toward the southern end of Wemore Avenue to find it.
Parking: Public Parking is available on the south side of Wemore Avenue.
Lifeguard: No.
At the end of McCorrie Lane in Portsmouth, a large, sandy parking area offers access to an extensive cobble beach front. It is perfect for swimming, fishing or launching a small boat. No parking or lifeguards are available.

5. Taylor's Lane Beach, Little Compton
At the end of Taylor's Lane in Little Compton sits a small sand and cobble-stone beach on the Church Bay portion of the Sakonnet River. Large boulders and surfers ofter dot the shoreline here. There is parking available for about 10 cars.
Parking: Limited.
Lifeguard: No.
