Portsmouth Bond Vote 2021: Residents Vote Yes For Both Bonds
Residents approved a $21.4 million bond for school repairs and another bond for elderly affordable housing.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — Portsmouth residents voted to approve two local bond questions, one that will go towards school repairs, and the other to create affordable housing for the elderly, according to unofficial results.
Residents voted 2,164-1,330 in favor of Question 1, which allocates $21.4 million for school repairs. Superintendent Thomas Kenworthy told Patch that it "makes the best overall sense to improve our schools."

Residents voted 1,880-1,609 in favor of Question 2. The second question involves a long-term lease with the Church Community Housing Corporation to create affordable elderly housing in the town.
