
A2B Tracking, a Portsmouth company, will hold an award presentation ceremony for U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse this Friday.Â
The event will honor the senator for his advocacy and advancement of the implementation of Automatic Identification Technology within the U.S. Department of Defense. He will be presented with an award given by the North American chapter of the Association for Identification and Mobility (AIM), and presented by A2B Tracking President and CEO, Peter M. Collins.
The AIM Automatic Identification Technology Award recognizes an individual, committee, group or organization from the government sector that has championed the successful use of Automated Identification Technology (AIT) in government.Â

AIT is essentially barcode technology. One type of barcode technology, Item Unique Identification (IUID), is used on critical military assets so that they can be identified and tracked. It allows the Department of Defense to account for every item in its inventory, in production or in use in the field.Â
