RI Energy Introducing 'Advanced Meters' In Portsmouth

Rhode Island Energy (RIE) is introducing a new Advanced Metering Functionality (AMF) program in Portsmouth. As part of this initiative, RIE plans to replace existing electric meters with advanced metersWhat is an Advanced Meter? An advanced meter enables two-way communication between the meter and RIE’s systems. It allows RIE to receive real-time usage and status information, offering customers more control over their energy consumption.RIE Advanced Meters Presentation

Benefits to Customers: With these new advanced meters, customers will have access to a user-friendly customer portal that provides insights into energy usage. This interactive tool can help residents manage their energy consumption and find ways to control monthly bills.

Project Timeline:

  • Customer Outreach: Letters will be sent to Portsmouth customers at the end of October/beginning of November.
  • Field Checks: RIE will conduct field checks for each meter.
  • Meter Installations: The installation process will follow field checks.
