Tractor, Trailer With 50-Foot Boat Attached Catches Fire In Portsmouth

Portsmouth fire officials say the fire caused power to be briefly knocked out in the Stringham Road area.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — A tractor trailer with a 50-foot boat attached to it caught fire in Portsmouth on Thursday morning, according to town fire officials.

Firefighters were called to the truck fire in the Stringham Road area around 2 a.m. When crews arrived, they found the boat up in flames and some of the fire extending to the truck, officials said.

Power was briefing knocked out in the area, but has since been restored by Rhode Island Energy.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
