Pedestrian Struck And Killed By School Bus In Providence: Official
The 38-year-old man was in the crosswalk when he was hit, according to a city official.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A pedestrian was struck by a school bus and killed in Providence Thursday morning, an official said.
The pedestrian, 38-year-old Lucas Garcia, was hit shortly before 6 a.m. on Union Avenue at the Route 10 north on-ramp, Providence Department of Public Safety Chief Public Information Officer Kristy dosReis said in an email.
Preliminary investigation indicates a pedestrian in the crosswalk was struck by a school bus," dosReis said. "The bus remained on scene."

At the time Garcia was hit, only the driver and monitor were on the bus and no students were present, according to dosReis.
Garcia was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he died Thursday afternoon, dosReis said.
