Task Force Takes Down Providence Man on Gun And Drug Charges: Cops
The Providence man was arrested by the Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force, police said.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was arrested Tuesday on gun and drug charges, police said.
Joel Garcia, 47, was taken into custody by the Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force, the state police said in a media release.
Garcia was charged with possession with the intent to deliver fentanyl, possession with the intent to deliver cocaine, possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of a firearm while committing a controlled substance violation, unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and distribution of a controlled substance in a school zone, according to the release.

Garcia was transported to the Lincoln Barracks for processing, arraigned by a justice of the peace and turned over to officials at the Adult Correctional Institutions Intake Center pending his morning arraignment in Sixth Division District Court.
