Editor's note: An earlier version of this story referred to this morning's event as an official opening. The morning was an unofficial gathering.
Old County Road School's new playground will be ready for play at 10 a.m. this morning.
The school at 200 Old County Road received delivery of new equipment Friday morning, and about 20 volunteers showed to dig foundations and take delivery of about 130 cubic yards of mulch.
This is the second phase of construction for the new playground. Last year the OCRS Playground Committee raised $22,000 for the first phase. This year, fundraising brought in $26,000, said Heather Byrnes, co-chair of the playground committee.
On Saturday, setup continued, with concrete pours for the foundations and spreading the mulch. This morning, with the concrete dry and the mulch in place, the playground is ready for kids.
There'll be an unofficial opening at the playground at 10 a.m.
