Prudent Measure: National Grid Trimming Trees in Smithfield

Two Stanley Tree Service trucks spent the morning trimming branches off trees along Old County Road today in preparation for hurricane season.

The company was hired out by National Grid to clear branches from power lines in town today. Fallen limbs are a major cause of many storm-related power outages.

The crews were still working at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, so if you're headed that way, be prepared to slow down, since the work narrowed the road to one lane.
