Smithfield PD Seeks Help on Active Cases

The use of counterfeit bills at Dave's Marketplace and a robbery at the 7-11 on Douglas Pike are on the Smithfield Police Department's list of active investigations.

Counterfeit bills used at Dave's Marketplace:

Two men who used counterfeit $100 bills at Dave's Marketplace on May 5 and 18 were recorded on survaillance video.

Both suspects are described as white males. One, seen on video on May 18, had a shaved head and beard and wore a blue t-shirt and black shorts; the other, suspected of using fake money on May 5 and 18, was wearing a dark hooded zip-front sweatshirt, light color khaki pants, and possibly workboots.

Suspect in 7-11 armed robbery sought:

On May 28 at about 1:30 pm, a white male went into the 7-11 on Douglas Pike and showed the clerk what appeared to be a gun.

The suspect is described as 6-foot-1-in. tall, with dark hair, a "chin strap" beard, black frame glasses, a white baseball cap and a tattoo on his left calf. Police report that he may have fled in a white older model Buick.
