Smithfield Police Investigating July 6 Hit and Run on Parked Car

Smithfield Police are investigating a July 6 hit and run involving a parked car at 22 Pineridge Drive sometime between 2 and 10 p.m.

At about 11:45 p.m. July 6, Smithfield Police responded to the address for a report of a hit and run on an unattended vehicle sometime overnight. Patrol Officer Jeffrey Scott inspected the damage to the vehicle, a white 2009 Nissan Altima, owned by Christine Baccari of Johnston. Scott observed a class III receiver-sized square imprint on the driver's side front bumper. There was no transfer of paint, but there was transfer of rust from the offending trailer hitch, according to Scott's report.

The homeowners reported they had had a graduation party the night before, and many visitors had driven cars to their house during the time in question. They offered to provide Scott with a list of any guests who had a trailer hitch.

On July 9, Scott reported the homeowners told him they did not find any guests who had trailer hitches.
