Smithfield Police Log: Break-in, Credit Card Scam, Suspended License Arrests
The following information was supplied by the Smithfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction:

Editor's note: The following is a partial account of the incidents Smithfield Police responded to during Aug. 1-3.
Thursday, Aug. 1:
- At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police responded to aid the Smithfield Fire Department in extinguishing a house fire at 69 Williams Road.
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to a residence on Sutton Street for a domestic dispute.
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to KFC on Putnam Pike for a traffic crash with injuries.
Friday, Aug. 2:
- At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police arrested Richard G. Wilner, 46, charging him with driving with a suspended license.
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police arrested Linesh Perry, 25, charging him with driving with a suspended license.
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to a break-in at a residence on Domin Avenue.
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to DiCarlo Restaurant at 970 Douglas Pike for a report of a utility bill scam. Someone called the business posing as a National Grid representative, stating they owed a $990 bill, which could only be paid with a pre-paid credit card to avoid service shutoff. The person paid the money, later learning the party was not from National Grid.

- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police arrested Andrew Thornley, 30, charging him with driving with a suspended license.
- At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to a hit-and-run accident at 371 Putnam Pike, no injuries.
- At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to a report of a wallet with credit cards and no cash taken from a car at Smithfield Crossings. The thief fled the scene on foot.
