Smithfield Police Log: Car Crashes, Shoplifter Collared
The following information was supplied by the Smithfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction:
Editor's note: The following is a partial account of the incidents Smithfield Police responded to during Aug. 4-5.
Sunday, Aug. 4:
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to a two-car crash at the intersection of Whipple Avenue and Ridge Road. There were no injuries reported.
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to a two-car crash at the intersection of Esmond Street and Putnam Pike.
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police arrested Syed Mehdi, 49, charging him with one count of shoplifting at Kohl's department store at 371 Putnam Pike.
Monday, Aug. 5:
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to a two-car crash with no injuries on Putnam Pike near PVA.
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to a car crash with no injuries in the parking lot of Kohl's department store at 371 Putnam Pike.
