Smithfield Police Log: Car Fire, Identity Theft, Copper Pipes Pilfered

The following information was supplied by the Smithfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction:

Editor's note: The following is a partial account of the incidents Smithfield Police responded to during Aug. 19-20.

Monday, Aug. 19:

  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to a home on Pleasant View Ave. for a report of a verbal domestic dispute.
  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to the intersection of Business Park Drive and Rocky Hill Road for a report of a car fire. 
  • At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police arrested Brian Mackie, 22, on a warrant out of the Gloucester Police Department for domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.
Tuesday, Aug. 20:
  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police arrested Gilson Monteiro, 23, for driving with a suspended license.
  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police took an identity fraud report from a woman on Tucker Road. The woman said someone using her name had opened four accounts at Verizon and changed her existing account.
  • At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to a vacant house under foreclosure on Farnum Pike to investigate the theft of copper piping from the home.
