Smithfield Police Log: Five-Car Crash, Embezzlement, 7-11 Robbery
The following information was supplied by the Smithfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Editor's note: The following is a partial account of the incidents reported by Smithfield Police for May 25 to 29.
May 25:
- Patrol Ofc. John Beausoleil responded to Gilda's for a five-car accident, where one vehicle struck four others parked at the bar.
- Patrol Ofc. Gary Masterson arrested Kendra Lopes, 25, on a charge of felony embezzlement from the Home Depot. She was released on personal recognizance until a July 29 hearing in Third District Court, Warwick.
- Patrol Ofc. Kerrin A. D'Agnelli investigated a case of malicious damage to a car in the parking lot of Target. She also later responded to Famous Footwear for a shoplifting report.
May 26:

- Patrol Ofc. Thomas Coleman responded to a home on Kerry Ann Drive for a report of stolen jewelry.
May 28:
- Patrol Ofc. Joseph Marcello responded to the 7-11 at 970 Douglas Pike for a report of larceny. The suspect is described as a white male, 6-foot-1-in. tall, with dark hair, a "chin strap" beard, and black frame glasses. The suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
- Patrol Ofc. Paul Gilmore reported the apparent theft of pipe joints from Rocchio & Sons of Lark Industrial Parkway.
May 29:

- Ofc. Beausoleil arrested Richard Toles, 46, on a warrant issued for failure to appear at a determination of attorney hearing on a charge of breaking and entering brought by North Providence Police. Toles posted bail at a May 29 appearance in Providence Superior Court, and he was released until a June 10 hearing.
- Patrol Ofc. Scott Hopkins responded to the Johnston Police Department to take custody of James A. Whiting, 65, on a warrant issued for charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct brought by Smithfield Police. He pleaded not guilty at arraignment in Third District Court, and was released on personal recognizance until a June 11 hearing. A no-contact order was also imposed.
- Patrol Ofc. Peter DeMarco responded to the Dunkin' Donuts on Putnam Pike for a report of two men who left a stink bomb on the counter.
