Smithfield to Hold Memorial Day Ceremony on May 27

The Town of Smithfield has scheduled the annual Memorial Day ceremony for Monday, May 27, at 10:30 am at the veterans memorial inside Deerfield Park.

American Legion Balfour-Cole Post 64 joins the Smithfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2929 and its Ladies Auxiliary in hosting this year's event, which is expected to include honor guards from the Smithfield Police and Smithfield Fire Department, and performances by the Gallagher Middle School chorus and Smithfield Chorus.

Also on Monday, the Smithfield Senior Center is hosting a collection of new socks, shirts and underwear for Operation Stand Down RI. Attendees may bring their donations to the ceremony on Monday.
