Thursday Five: Smith-Appleby Games, Economic Development, Subdivision, Zoning Change

Smith-Appleby Games - Young & old are invited to play Colonial style field games: tug-o-war, sack race, hoops, 9-pin bowling, graces, or 9 Man Morris. July 27 at 1 p.m., Smith-Appleby House Museum220 Stillwater Road, Smithfield.

Economic Development - The Economic Development Commission meets at 6 p.m. today, Smithfield Town Hall, 64 Farnum Pike. Among the things on their agenda will be a discussion of the town's partnership with Bryant University.

Planning - The Smithfield Planning Board meets tonight, 7 p.m. at 64 Farnum Pike. Among the items on their agenda, they'll consider a 7- acre subdivision at Stone Post Estates and a request for zone change on the 28-acre Churchill & Banks property.  

Y Before/After School - The Smithfield YMCA has begun registration for our Before and After School Program. The Y offers child care to children attending Smithfield Elementary Schools, both before school and after school. Our Before School Program begins as early as 6:45 a.m., serves the children breakfast and then transports your child/ren to their respective school.

Gear for Grades Between now and Aug. 9, you can help children gear up for a year of learning by donating the following items at any Citizens Bank branch: Child-Safe Scissors, Pencils/Pens, Erasers, Pocket Folders, Spiral Notebooks, Crayons, Washable Markers, Rulers, Glue Sticks, Colored Pencils, Pencil Boxes, and Index Cards.
