Wednesday Five: After/Before School, Give Blood Today, Gear for Grades

Y Before/After School - The Smithfield YMCA has begun registration for our Before and After School Program. The Y offers child care to children attending Smithfield Elementary Schools, both before school and after school. Our Before School Program begins as early as 6:45 a.m., serves the children breakfast and then transports your child/ren to their respective school. 

The After School Program will pick your child up at their school and bring them back to the Y for supervised homework time, free play, arts and crafts, sports, team building and more. The Y will also provide a snack and drink each day. The After School Program runs until 6 p.m.

Give Blood 
- Today, Rhode Island Blood Center Bloodmobile will be at Navigant Credit Union, 1005 Douglas Pike, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. No appointment necessary.

Gear for Grades Between now and Aug. 9, you can help children gear up for a year of learning by donating the following items at any Citizens Bank branch: Child-Safe Scissors, Pencils/Pens, Erasers, Pocket Folders, Spiral Notebooks, Crayons, Washable Markers, Rulers, Glue Sticks, Colored Pencils, Pencil Boxes, and Index Cards.
 
Yoga in the Park - Don't forget to join Smithfield YMCA for Yoga in the Park on Tuesdays at 7 a.m. or Saturdays at 8 a.m. with Certified Instructor Renee Maxwell! Call (401) 949-2480 to register.

National Grid survey - National Grid will be conducting a leakage survey in Smithfield. Grid officials will be going door to door and may be seen walking on private property in order to read outside meters. Those meters that are not accessible. officials will ask for access to the residence to check the meter. Those residents who are not home, a notice will be left in the door. All survey officials must wear photo identification. 

The survey is expected to last until the end of 2013. A list of survey personnel, their dates of births and the vehicles they drive has been submitted to the Police Department. You may call the Smithfield Police Department at 231-2500 with any questions or concerns.
