Apple Creek Apartments in Tiverton to Receive Grant

The Church Community Housing Corporation will rehabilitate a 28-unit mixed-income family rental development.

Rhode Island Housing announced Tuesday that the Apple Creek Apartments in Tiverton will receive federal home funds.

The affordable housing developments, combined with five other developments, will receive more than $2 million.

The Providence Journal announced that the assistance will be in the form of HOME funds, which will aid the production of 145 affordable homes and apartments in Burrillville, Exeter, Providence, North Kingstown and Tiverton.

HOME funds pay for both rental and homeownership opportunities and are used to acquire property, rehabilitate existing properties and construct new affordable homes.

The Church Community Housing Corporation, for Apple Creek Apartments in Tiverton, will rehabilitate a 28-unit mixed-income family rental development. Work will include photovoltaic installation, which utilizes solar energy. Eleven HOME rental apartments will be leased to families at or below 50 percent of area median income, including three reserved for formerly homeless households.
