Tiverton Boy's Disney Wish Comes True

Children's Wishes, a non-profit organization, are granting a Tiverton boy's wish to visit Disney World.

Tommy was like most 10-year-olds. He dreamed of going to Disney World one day, and meeting Mickey Mouse and other Disney characters.

Unlike most 10-year-olds, Tommy, a student at the Meeting Street School, he was diagnosed with peri-ventricular leukomalacia, cerebral palsy, a seizure disorder and cordical visual impairment.

However, this Tiverton child's diagnosis will not stop him from fulfilling his dream.

Children’s Wishes, a non-profit organization, are granting Tommy's wish to go to Disney World. The nonprofit organization surprised Tommy and his family at their Tiverton home this past Saturday.

Tommy, his parents, and his brother were picked up Saturday by limousine (donated by Sentinel Limo of East Providence) from his house on Fir Avenue in Tiverton to head to T.F. Green Airport for their flight to Orlando.

His wish granting volunteers, Dana Hrabcsak of Children’s Wishes and Craig Sroka of the East Providence Police Department, were there for Tommy’s special send-off.

Although Tommy only uses non-verbal cues to communicate, his expressions and smiles of excitement when looking at pictures of Disney World and Disney characters could not be mistaken. His mother, Deborah, states that Tommy also looks at his family photo album everyday.

Tommy and his family will be staying at Give Kids The World Village where children from all over the world stay when being granted their Disney wishes. They will have a whole week to enjoy Disney World and the Florida sunshine!

Children’s Wishes is a non-profit organization that was created in April 2009 to grant wishes to children between the ages of 2 ½ and 18 with life-threatening illnesses. The organization works to create the opportunity for children to believe in magic and infuse hope and happiness into their lives.
