Tiverton Getting 47 Affordable Housing Units At Bourne Mill Complex
The new units were paid through an $80 million state package, creating more than 800 affordable units throughout Rhode Island.
TIVERTON, RI — Tiverton will get funding for 47 affordable housing units thanks to a state investment of more than $80 million to create and preserve more than 800 affordable housing units across the state, Gov. Dan McKee said Thursday during a news conference with Rhode Island Housing.
Through a combination of state and federal resources, including $15 million from the McKee administration's RI Rebounds initiative and $10 million from the Housing Production Fund, these developments are investments to strengthen communities and support over 1,200 jobs, according to McKee.
"Rhode Islanders need more homes they can afford," McKee said. "Ensuring all Rhode Islanders have access to a safe and affordable home is critical to the success of Rhode Island families, our communities and our state. These and other historic investments in my proposed FY 2023 budget will support Rhode Island residents — now and in the future. Together, these investments will help alleviate the housing shortfall and affordability crisis while reinvigorating our economy."

State officials said the funding for Tiverton will go towards Bourne Mill III and include 59 mixed-income rental units in a newly constructed building on the site of the redeveloped Bourne Mill complex. Forty-seven of those units will be affordable housing, income restricted up to 60 percent average median income.
