Tiverton Police: Man Caught Driving Charged With DUI

Edward Fortier, 41, of 37 Bark Cir, Swansea, MA, was arrested on Jan. 15 at 11 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence, first offense, blood alcohol content unknown. According to reports, Tiverton Police allegedly saw Fortier driving his car in the center of the roadway on Main Road near Durfee Road, taking up both lanes of travel. An officer was forced to pull to the side of the road in order to allow Fortier to pass. After catching up with the vehicle and initiating a traffic stop, police approached the car and noticed the Fortier's hand was bleeding. Fortier claimed he was driving from Fall River to Charlton Memorial Hospital, however he was headed northbound on Main Road.

When police inquired as to why he was coming from the wrong direction, the man had no answer for police. Fortier was treated on scene for injury to his hand by Emergency Medical Services. He took and failed a field sobriety test. On a preliminary field breath test, Fortier registered a .18, but later refused a chemical test at police headquarters.

Clinton O. Skarka, 53, of 114 Lepes Road, Tiverton, was arrested on Jan. 11 at 9:14 p.m. and charged with domestic simple assault. According to reports, Skarka allegedly pushed his step child to the ground during an argument. Skarka was processed at Tiverton Police headquarters on Industrial Way and later released on personal recognizance by a bail commissioner.

Dianne Matthews, 48, of 37 Peckham Lane, Tiverton, was arrested on Jan. 12 at 5:52 p.m. and charged with domestic vandalism. Police responded to Matthew's address for a report of a domestic argument. Matthews' husband alleged she damaged several items in the home during the argument and police arrested Matthews. She was arraigned and released on $1,000 personal recognizance the next day.

Aldo Notarandrea, 34, of 219 Nanaquacket Road, Tiverton was arrested on Jan. 13 at 2:24 p.m. on an an arrest warrant from Middletown Police. A Tiverton police officersaw Notarandrea driving his car on Main Road. Being familiar with Notarandrea, the officer initiated a traffic stop because he knew Notarandrea was wanted in Middletown. During a subsequent computer check, police found that Notarandrea was also wanted by West Warwick Police. Notarandrea was transported to police headquarters and later turned over to the Middletown Police Department.

Jillian Viewg, 23, of 63 Main Road, Tiverton was arrested on Jan. 14 at 1:38 a.m. on a Second Division District Court bench warrant. After police received a report of a disorderly person on Main Road, Viewg was taken into custody because she was wanted on a warrant for failure to make payment. Viewg made payment and was released at 9 a.m. by a justice of the peace.

Kayla L. Romano, 20, of 86 Lepes Road, Tiverton, was arrested on Jan. 14 at 12:08 p.m. and charged with domestic disorderly conduct, domestic vandalism, and domestic simple assault. According to police, Romano's mother called police due to Romano's "out of control behavior." It was alleged that Romano lost control during a family argument and bit her b 13-year-old brother, kicked in a screen door, and threatened to slash car tires. Police charged Romano with three counts of domestic-related offenses. She was arraigned in Second Division District Court on Monday, Jan. 14 and released on $1,000 personal recognizance and issued a no contact order with the involved family members.
