Tiverton Police: Taunton Man Charged With DUI, BAC Twice The Legal Limit

Jorge L. Daveiga, 45, of 59 Linden St. Apt. 203, Taunton, MA, was arrested on Dec. 28 at 2:13 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence, first offense. He was also charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in damage. According to police reports, Daveiga was driving on Main Road when he crossed the center line, struck an oncoming vehicle and fled the scene. Police were able to catch up to Daveiga’s car after the victim offered a description. Police stopped Daveiga and noticed signs of intoxication. He failed a field sobriety test and submitted to a chemical test. Daveiga’s blood-alcohol level registered at two times the legal limit, testing at .166 and .186. Daveiga was arraigned in district court and released the next day after a judge ordered him not to drive.

Taunton Woman Charged With Domestic Simple Assault

Kendra Melo, 31, of 584 Bay St., Taunton, MA, was arrested on Dec. 26 at 3:59 a.m. and charged with domestic simple assault. According to reports, police responded to Meadow View lane at 3:30 a.m. for a report of a domestic argument. Melo claimed she was arguing with her 33-year-old boyfriend and police learned that during confrontation she allegedly struck him in the face.

Based on that, Melo was taken into custody. She was arraigned in district court later that morning.

Tiverton Man Caught On Two Warrants

Carl J. Albert, 52, of 1703 Crandall Road, Tiverton, was arrested on Dec. 26 at 8:58 p.m. and arrested on two bench warrants. Police responded to the scene of a single-car crash at the intersection of Riverside Drive. During a subsequent routine computer check, Tiverton Police learned Albert was wanted on one Superior Court warrant and on a second warrant from Second Division District Court. Albert was held overnight and transported to court for arraignment the next morning.

Tiverton Man’s Larceny Attemp Foiled

Thomas Ferreira, 45, of 780 Crandall Road, Tiverton, was arrested on Dec. 27 at 10:44 a.m. and charged with attempted larceny of less than $500, a misdemeanor. Police responded to Main Road based on a call from a resident who claimed they saw the driver of a pickup truck trying to remove scrap metal and other items from the rear of a Main Road residence that was under renovation. The witness identified Ferreira and police issued a warrant for attempted larceny on Dec. 19.
Ferreira was taken into custody on Dec. 27 during vehicle stop. He was released by a Justice of the Peace t 6 p.m. that evening on personal recognizance.

Tiverton Man Allegedly Admits B&E Guilt To Homeowner

Justin Ragas, 19, of 1034 Stafford Road, Tiverton, was arrested on Dec. 27 at 8:20 p.m. and charged with breaking and entering. According to police records, A Hillside Avenue home was broken into on May 11 and 31 items - mostly precious metals and power tools - valuing several thousand dollars, were stolen. According to police reports, Ragas allegedly admitted earlier in December to the homeowner that he was responsible for taking the items. The homeowner came forward, cooperated with police and a warrant was issued for Ragas based on his admission to involvement in the incident. Police arrested Ragas on Dec. 27. He was released on personal recognizance by a Justice of the Peace.

Tiverton Man Arrested on Warrant

Anthony Coelho, Jr., 36, of 51 Michaels Lane, Tiverton was arrested on Dec. 28 at at 11:14 p.m. on a warrant from Second Division District Court. Police responded to a report on disorderly man on Michaels Lane. Coelho was taken into custody after police learned he was wanted on a warrant. He was held without bail and later transferred to the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston.

Bristol Woman Arrested on Warrant

Lynn Correia, 32, of 205 Franklin St., Bristol, was arrested on Dec. 29 at 2:30 a.m. and taken into custody on a bench warrant from Second Division District Court. According to police, she was stopped on Route 24 South after an officer observed her make several roadway violations. Through a computer check, he learned she had an active warrant for her arrest for failure to pay fines. She was arrested, transported to police headquarters and later released by a Justice of the Peace.

Warren Man Charged With DUI

Joseph Pannoni, 30, of 350 Water St., Warren, was arrested on Dec. 30 at 3:15 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a chemical test, and speeding. Police stopped Pannoni for speeding after an officer clocked him driving 86 mph on Route 24 in a posted 55 mph zone. Pannoni allegedly showed signs of alcohol intoxication and failed a field sobriety test. He later refused to submit to a chemical test. Pannoni was released on personal recognizance.

23-Year-Old Portsmouth Man Arrested on Warrant

Logan E. Godek, 23, of 66 Cove St., Portsmouth, was arrested on Dec. 31 at 7:24 p.m. on a bench warrant. Tiverton Police stopped Godek’s car after seeing that it had no working tail lights. A subsequent computer check showed he had an active warrant for failure to pay. Police took Godek into custody and he was later released on personal recognizance by a Justice of the Peace.

Little Compton Man Charged With DUI Just Before New Year

Jeffrey Gomez, 30, of 54 Burchard Ave., Little Compton, was arrested on Dec. 31 at 11:09 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence. Police stopped Gomez for speeding after an officer clocked him driving 52 mph in a posted 40 mph zone. The officer could allegedly smell an odor of alcohol, and asked Gomez to submit to a field sobriety test. He failed. Police arrested Gomez and he was taken to police headquarters where he later refused a chemical test. He was released later on personal recognizance.
