• Final resting place restored (thewesterlysun.com) — Restoration work at the historic Wheeler-Bentley Cemetery in nearby Pawcatuck is preserving the graves of Westerly natives, including Revolutionary War soldier George Bentley and Priscilla Dixon Palmer. Stonington’s Cemetery Commission, using a new state grant and local monument experts, has cleaned, repaired, and reset aging stones so these 18th- and 19th-century family plots again stand out as dignified landmarks.
