Beaufort Co. man accused of robbing co-worker at gunpoint sentenced to prison (wtoc.com) — A Lady’s Island man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to armed robbery and a weapons charge stemming from a 2019 roadside holdup that began in Beaufort. Prosecutors say he chased a former co-worker from a Beaufort stoplight to St. Helena Island, fired a shot into the air, and took cash during a dispute over $40.

The impact of cold snaps on marine life: Understanding the risks to turtles and manatees (wpde.com) — Cold snaps along the South Carolina coast can stun sea turtles and manatees, and Beaufort County once saw a record 13 cold-stunned turtles reported in a single event. Biologists explain how sudden temperature drops harm these animals, describe the long rehab process, and urge residents to report stranded turtles or manatees to SCDNR’s 24-hour hotline.
