Beaufort County schools to host recruiting events for teachers (blufftonsun.com) — Beaufort County School District is hosting a major teacher recruiting fair at Bluffton High School on Feb. 21, 2026, specifically targeting openings at Bluffton and Hilton Head schools. Educators can meet principals, learn about open positions, and hear about pay, mentoring, and professional development. Registration and applications are available anytime through the district’s website.

2. Watch: Firefighters rescue kitten trapped under car in S.C. (upi.com) — Bluffton Township firefighters helped rescue a tiny kitten that hid in the undercarriage of a car after darting across Bluffton Parkway. The driver brought the vehicle to Fire Station 30 on Burnt Church Road, where a mechanic carefully freed the animal. Now named Flash, the kitten is recovering at Beaufort County Animal Shelter and will soon be ready for fostering or adoption.
   

3. Palmetto Breeze could end weekend commuter service to HHI (wsav.com) — Weekend Palmetto Breeze commuter buses to Hilton Head could be cut as early as February 2026, even though Bluffton and Hilton Head have already increased their funding. With Beaufort County holding back, transit leaders are weighing fare changes and possibly charging for the Hilton Head trolley, decisions that could affect Bluffton workers who rely on these routes.
   

4. Jasper Co. mother pleads for answers after son killed in hit-and-run near Broad River Bridge (wtoc.com) — A Jasper County mother is pleading for information after her son was killed in an April hit-and-run near the Broad River Bridge, with both suspected vehicles believed to have driven toward Bluffton afterward. Investigators are still searching for a Honda Civic and an SUV, and the family is asking anyone who knows something to contact the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
