2 Arrested in Officer-Involved Shooting

One suspect was injured in the gunfire.

Shawn Maurice Pickens and another juvenile were arrested and charged in an incident Monday that left the 16-year-old wounded, a press release stated. 

Pickens is charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, unlawful delivery of a pistol to a person under the age of 18 and failure to stop on police command. The juvenile was charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18, failure to stop on police command, and pointing and presenting a firearm. 

On Monday, two members of CPD’s Drug Suppression Team responded to a call about a man with a gun in the neighborhood. When the officers arrived, they saw two males who fit the description of the suspects.

One of the suspects presented a gun and shots were fired between the suspects and the police officers.

The 16-year-old received life-threatening injuries.
