Chesterbrook Academy Preschooler Donate Gifts & Food to Local Families

Students held gift and food drives in support of Families Helping Families and Harvest Hope

Students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool in Columbia recently donated gifts – including toys, clothing, shoes and pajamas – to local community members in need through Families Helping Families. Students collected donations to fulfill the wishes of a family of four, as well as an elderly woman and a disabled young man they “adopted” for the holidays. Students and their families wrapped the gifts to prepare them for delivery to the recipients.

In addition to the gift drive for Families Helping Families, students collected nonperishable food items to help stock the shelves of Harvest Hope, South Carolina’s largest food bank, providing over 20 million meals on average to neighbors in need. At the end of the collection, students delivered the food items to Harvest Hope and learned about how their donation will help provide meals to South Carolina residents in need. Through these initiatives, students learned the importance of giving back to their community and spreading cheer during the holiday season.
