A Columbia woman was identified by the Richland County Coroner's Office as the driver killed in a single-vehicle accident on Garners Ferry Road Sunday. Pamela J. Knudsen, 58, was the driver and the only occupant of her 2009 Toyota. Knudsen was traveling east on US 378/Garners Ferry Road near Highway 601 when the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree, the coroner's office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol said. Knudsen, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, according to the coroner's office.  Preliminary exam results show that she died from head and chest trauma from the wreck, according to a news release. The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
