Deputies: Man Broke into Columbia Home, Ate Food

Deputies are looking for a 26-year-old man on charges of burglary, petit larceny and injury to property.

Richland County deputies are looking for a man they say broke into a home in the St. Andrews area, ate food from the refrigerator and cabinets and turned on TVs and a shower in the house.

James Walker Brown III, 26, is wanted on charges of burglary, petit larceny and malicious injury to real property.

Deputies say Brown broke into a home at 2715 Haymarket Road around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 25 by breaking a rear glass door panel. Two people who were in the house at the time hid.

Brown rummaged through the refrigerator and kitchen cabinets and ate food, according to the sheriff's department. He also turned on a shower in a rear bedroom and TVs. Deputies say Brown caused about $550 in damage.

The homeowner told deputies when he returned home, Brown ran out the back door.

The sheriff's department was able to identify Brown through DNA and fingerprints.
