Inmate Pleads Guilty to Tax Fraud
John C. Stone plead guilty to conspiracy to defraud the government with two other co-defendants.

John C. Stone, 32, was sentenced to 45 months in prison on charges of conspiracy to defraud the government, according to a US Attorney's Office press release.
Stone, formerly of Anderson, is currently incarcerated in the South Carolina Department of Corrections. He was ordered to pay $134,468.50 in restitution to the government.
Two co-defendants, Tasha and Herbert Glover, were previously sentenced to 30 and six months, respectively.

Evidence presented at the change of plea hearing showed that Stone filed ficticious tax returns in 2008 and requested false refunds, the release stated.
Stone claimed $1,094,086 in refunds, but the IRS caught most of the false returns. Still, Stone received $257,000 in refunds, the release stated.

Tasha Glover allegedly helped Stone by cashing 50 false returns at an Augusta gas station in exchange for a free from Stone.
Herbert Glover allegedly provided limited information to help file several false tax returns.
