Man Charged in Columbia Home Burglary
A witness helped police catch a man they say tried to break into a Columbia home Wednesday.

Police arrested a 20-year-old man accused of breaking into a Columbia home Wednesday morning.
Dvante Typaine Harris is charged with second-degree burglary.
Harris is accused of using a gardening tool to pry open a window at a home in the 800 block of Woodrow Street shortly before 9:30, according to the Columbia Police Department.

A witness provided officers with a description of the man who was breaking into the house, police say. Another officer on patrol saw a man matching the description of the burglar a short time after the crime.
A witness positively identified Harris as the burglary suspect.

Harris was arrested and transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
