Man Dies Atop Tree

Rodney W. Waiters, 62, died in North Columbia while cutting down a tree.

A man who died while cutting down a tree in North Columbia has been identified and autopsy results showed no signs of trauma. The cause of death is pending toxicology and other test results. 

Rodney W. Waiters, 62, died Tuesday afternoon when collapsed while cutting down the top portion of a tree, a coroner's office press release stated. 

Coworkers noticed Waiters was unresponsive at the top of the tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency workers pulled him out of the tree.

The work atop the tree did not contribute to Waiter's death, the release stated.
