Speak Out: Are Preteen Halloween Costumes Getting Too Revealing?

It's no surprise that adult Halloween costumes can get a little raunchy. Even in the movie Mean Girls, the main character said, ""In the regular world, Halloween is when children dress up in costumes and beg for candy. In Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it."

But is there a limit on the age-appropriateness of Halloween costumes? A popular brand sold in Richland County, Leg Avenue, has an entire juniors section of costumes that mirror the adult versions. The models in the photos on the packages and online look no older than 14. 

Even the website identifies itself as a "lingere" company instead of a costume. See the second attached photo. 

In fact, the website states:

"Whether it's feeling glamorous in our lingerie or fulfilling a fantasy in one of our costumes, our goal is to make each woman that wears Leg Avenue feel confident and sexy."
