Yellow Jessamine Garden Club Has Informative Program On Blueberries (dillonnews.org) — Dillon’s Yellow Jessamine Garden Club recently gathered for a November meeting featuring a devotional, club business, and a detailed lesson on the health benefits and growing needs of blueberries. Members also learned about the history and symbolism of chrysanthemums as the flower of the month and reaffirmed the club’s ties to state and national garden organizations.
   

2. Man charged in connection with Dillon motel shooting (wpde.com) — Two people were injured in a shooting Monday at the Days Inn on Radford Boulevard in Dillon, and a suspect has now been arrested and charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses. Deputies located the car tied to the suspect, confirmed his identity, and took him to the Dillon County Detention Center. Local and state law enforcement agencies were credited for working together on the case.
   

3. 2 Latta residents charged with exploitation of a vulnerable adult (wpde.com) — Two Latta residents have been charged in Dillon County with financially exploiting a vulnerable adult, following an investigation by the S.C. Attorney General’s office. Authorities allege the pair misused more than $10,000 while one suspect held power of attorney. The case will be prosecuted by the state Attorney General’s Office, underscoring ongoing scrutiny of elder and vulnerable adult abuse in our area.
   

4. CareSouth Carolina Generates More Than $191 Million in Economic Impact in 2024 (dillonnews.org) — CareSouth Carolina’s clinics, including its Dillon location, generated more than $191 million in economic impact across the Pee Dee region in 2024, while supporting over 1,100 jobs. The nonprofit also delivered major Medicaid and health system savings and provided extensive primary, dental, behavioral, and support services to thousands of low-income and underserved patients.
   

5. Start the Year with Purpose: First 2026 Guardian ad Litem Training Begins January 6, 2026 (dillonnews.org) — Residents in Dillon County are being invited to start 2026 by training as volunteer Guardians ad Litem, advocating for local children in Family Court. A free virtual training begins January 6, with morning and evening options, and applications due December 20. Volunteers must be at least 21, meet background requirements, and commit a few hours each month.
