Bake Sale Benefits Relay for Life

An event this afternoon gives shoppers a chance to indulge their sweet tooth while helping a local Relay for Life team raise money for cancer research.

The Lucky Lois team will be holding a bake sale at the Easley Walmart beginning at noon today.

Proceeds from the sale will go to the American Cancer Society.

The Lucky Lois team is named after Lois Porter, a waitress at Joe's Ice Cream Parlor. A two-time cancer survivor, Lois was named Pickens County Relay for Life's Honorary Survivor last year.

The 2013 Relay for Life of Pickens County begins 7pm Friday, May 3 at Gettys Middle School. Teams will have walkers on the track all night until 7am, Saturday, May 4.
