Best of Winner: The Starving Artist Cafe

The Easley eatery won 33 percent of the vote in the Patch "Best Of" Valentine contest.

If the way to the heart is through the stomach, then our Patch readers have found the best place to take your Valentine.

In our , 101 voters cast their ballots for the restaurant that was best suited to wine and dine your sweetheart.

Receiving 34 votes in the contest, the casual dining restaurant offers breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday and serves dinner on Thursday and Friday.

Owner Vicki Ciplickas said an email blast to customers on Wednesday helped to get the word out about the voting.

"We change our menu regularly, because we buy our products locally and go for the freshest foods available" Ciplickas said. "Usually on Wednesday we send out an email blast to our fan base to let them know about our menu for Thursday and Friday evening and what bands will be playing. This week, we also encouraged them to vote for us!"

Ciplickas said they also were telling customers who came in to vote for them on Patch.

For Valentine's, the cafe is offering up a special dinner menu on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday nights.

In addition to their regular menu, Ciplickas said they would offer a special $40 per couple option that would include an appetizer, entree, dessert and sparkling Moscato.

A Sweetheart's Brunch will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday and a Princess Tea from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
