Local Student Using Spring Break to Help Others

Instead of spending spring break on a beach somewhere, Jeremy Sullivan of Easley is helping others through Clemson University's Alternative Break Program.

The program is organizing two trips for spring break this year. One group is travel to Pensacola, Fla., to work with Community Collaborations International on ecological restoration projects in areas that were affected by the 2010 Gulf Coast oil disaster. A second group will go to Chavies, Ky., to work with the Appalachia Service Project restoring homes in underprivileged communities.

Sullivan is a junior in biological sciences who is heading to Florida with the student group.
