Powerball Changes Coming Sunday

Powerball players get ready for some changes.

The popular lottery is making a few changes after Saturday's drawing, but it promises bigger jackpots and better odds.

On Sunday, the cost of a Powerball ticket will increase to $2.

Lottery officials said the jackpot will double to $40 million.

What will change other than the price:

• The overall odds and the odds of winning the jackpot will be the best ever offered.
• More $100 million-plus jackpots are anticipated.
• Players matching five white balls will win $1 million, up from $200,000. 
• Add PowerPlay and the match five white balls prize jumps to $2 million.
• PowerPlay will remain at $1 and feature set prize amounts.

More than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students, since the lottery started in 2002.
